Scope — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Scope ("we", "us") handles information when you use the Scope iOS app. We built Scope to be privacy-respecting: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, and we never sell your personal data.

Information we collect

• Account information: if you sign in, your name and email address are received from Apple (Sign in with Apple) or Google and stored via Firebase Authentication to identify your account. Sign in with Apple can hide your real email with a private relay address.
• Purchase information: when you subscribe, RevenueCat and Apple process the transaction and share subscription status and anonymized purchase history with us so we can unlock Pro features. We never receive your card number.
• On-device data: your favorites, view history, and settings are stored locally on your device.
• Barcode scanning: the barcode scanner reads product barcodes on-device; barcode images are not uploaded.
• AI photo & ingredient analysis: when you choose to scan a product photo, or open a product whose ingredients we analyze, the image and/or ingredient text are sent to a third-party AI service to generate a health summary. We don't use this for advertising, and you are asked to consent before the first photo analysis.

How we use information

To provide and secure the app, unlock subscription features, remember your preferences, and respond to support requests. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Third-party services

Scope relies on Firebase Authentication (Google) for sign-in, RevenueCat and the Apple App Store for subscriptions, a third-party AI service for AI photo and ingredient analysis, FatSecret and the public Open Food Facts and openFDA databases for product information, and Google Firebase for a shared product cache. These providers process data under their own privacy policies. Product look-ups are not tied to your identity.

Data retention & deletion

On-device data stays until you delete the app or use "Delete account" in Profile, which clears your local data and removes your authentication record. To request deletion of any server-side account data, email us at ssvme777@gmail.com.

Children

Scope is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
